Choose round, evenly shaped oranges
A balanced shape usually indicates that the fruit has developed well and is packed with juice inside. Irregular shapes can sometimes mean less flavor or uneven ripening.
Pick the heavier ones
When two oranges are the same size, always go for the heavier one. Extra weight is a sign that its loaded with juice and will taste fresher and sweeter.
Check the skin
The peel should be firm, smooth, and have a vibrant color. This shows that the orange is ripe and full of flavor. Avoid fruit with wrinkled or dull skin, as it may be old or dry.
Avoid light or spongy fruit
If the orange feels too light for its size or slightly spongy when pressed, its likely lacking juice inside and wont taste as good.
