What’s protected
Every article, chart, printable and image on avagardentips.com is published by Ava’s Garden Tips, who owns the text and the original artwork. Anything licensed or supplied by someone else carries a credit in the caption. Under US law, protection attaches the moment a work is created and fixed in a tangible form, not when it is published or registered. “Ava” is a disclosed pen name, not a separate rights holder.
What you may reuse
- One image per article, in an editorial post, with a visible credit to Ava’s Garden Tips and a working link to the page it came from.
- A short quote of two or three sentences, with that same link.
- Printable plans, checklists and spacing charts, printed and used at home, in a class, or in a community garden. Personal and non-commercial only.
- Links to any page here. Always fine, no permission needed.
What isn’t allowed
- Republishing a whole article, or a substantial part of one, translated or not.
- Automated scraping, bulk downloading, or mirroring of pages, images or feeds.
- Using anything from this site to train, fine-tune or ground a machine-learning or generative AI system. Text and data mining for those purposes is expressly reserved and refused.
- Selling the printables, bundling them into a paid product, or using them as a sign-up incentive.
- Re-uploading images to stock libraries, print-on-demand shops, or social platforms with the credit stripped off. Pinning from the page is welcome.

Reporting infringing material on this site
Send a takedown notice under 17 U.S.C. §512. Valid notices are acted on promptly, and the material comes down while the claim is reviewed.
The statute lists six elements. Missing one may make the notice invalid:
- Your physical or electronic signature, as the owner of the exclusive right or someone authorized to act for them.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say was infringed. If one notice covers several works on a single site, a representative list of them is enough.
- Identification of the infringing material, with a direct URL where possible.
- Your contact details: mailing address, telephone number, and email address if you have one.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the use isn’t authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you’re authorized to act for the owner.
One caution: under §512(f), knowingly and materially misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for the damages, costs and attorneys’ fees it causes.

Counter-notification
If your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, answer with a counter-notice under §512(g)(3). It needs four things: your signature; identification of the material and where it appeared before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it came down by mistake or misidentification; and your name, address and telephone number, with consent to the federal district court for your address (or any district where the provider may be found, if you’re outside the US) and agreement to accept service of process.
Know what follows. A copy of your counter-notice, including your name and address, goes to the complaining party. If they don’t file a court action to restrain the use, the material goes back up between 10 and 14 business days after the counter-notice arrives, the window the statute sets. A false counter-notice carries the same §512(f) exposure.
Repeat infringers
Contributor access, commenting and posting privileges are terminated for anyone who infringes repeatedly. §512(i) makes that policy a condition of safe harbor for service providers, and it’s applied here without exception.
If this site has used your work
Tell us and it gets fixed. Email hello@avagardentips.com with the page URL, the image or passage, and a link to your original. No formal notice required, though you’re entitled to send one.
If the claim holds up, the material is removed, replaced, or properly licensed and credited, and the correction is noted on the page.
