Who operates this site
Ava’s Garden Tips is published by Ava’s Garden Tips (“we”, “us”, “the publisher”), a single independent publisher at postal address available on request — email hello@avagardentips.com. “Ava” is a disclosed pen name. It’s the editorial voice of the site, not a separate person you can contract with, as the About page says.
Accepting these terms
Using the site means you accept these terms, whether you’re reading, commenting, downloading a plan or subscribing. If you’re under 13, don’t use the site and don’t submit anything to it. If you’re 13 to 17, use it with a parent or guardian.
What you may do here
- Print a page for your own use.
- Link to any page, from anywhere, without asking.
- Quote a short excerpt with credit and a live link back.
What you may not do
- Republish whole articles, or substantial parts of them.
- Copy the site in bulk with automated tools, scraping and model training included, without written permission.
- Remove or obscure credits, watermarks or copyright notices.
- Suggest the site endorses a product or seller when it doesn’t.
- Interfere with the site: probing, overloading, injecting code, uploading malware.
- Impersonate the publisher, the Ava byline or another reader.
Who owns the content
The publisher does, or licenses it. Original text, photographs, illustrations, diagrams, charts and printable plans are protected by copyright, as are the page layouts and the name “Ava’s Garden Tips”. Nothing here transfers ownership to you. Frost dates and soil temperatures are facts, and facts belong to nobody; the wording and drawings around them are ours.
The printable plans, charts and worksheets
Personal, non-commercial use is permitted. Redistribution and resale are not.

Comments and anything else you submit
You keep ownership of what you write. By submitting a comment, photo, question or suggestion, you grant the publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, transferable and sublicensable license to store, display, reproduce, adapt and distribute it on this site. You confirm the content is yours to give and infringes nobody else’s rights.
Comment rules
- No spam, affiliate links or link-drops.
- No personal attacks, harassment or slurs. Argue with the advice, not the reader.
- No medical or herbal-remedy advice, and no “is this safe to eat” answers, including mushroom and wild-plant identification.
- No pesticide or herbicide rates, dilutions or mixing instructions. The label is part of the product’s federal registration, and under FIFRA it is unlawful to use a registered pesticide in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
- No home canning methods, times or pressures. Link to the National Center for Home Food Preservation instead.
- No trading plants listed as noxious or invasive in a reader’s state.
- No private information about other people, and no impersonation.
Those bans exist because bad advice on those subjects can put someone in the emergency room.
Moderation
We can hold, edit or delete any comment. We’re not obliged to moderate, and we don’t verify what readers say. Comments are the view of whoever wrote them.
This is not professional advice
Everything here is general information for US home gardeners. It isn’t horticultural, veterinary, medical, legal or financial advice, and reading it creates no professional relationship. Soil, zone, microclimate and season change every answer, so check anything that matters with your state Cooperative Extension service first.
Some subjects are off the menu by choice: foraging and wild-edible or mushroom identification, medicinal and herbal-remedy claims, cannabis, pesticide and herbicide doses, homemade bug-spray recipes, and home canning methods. No warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the content is accurate, complete or current, that the site runs without error, or that any plant will live. Some states don’t allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the publisher isn’t liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost crops, dead plants or lost data, arising from your use of the site, from relying on anything published here, or from any site we link to. Total liability for any claim is capped at $100, or the amount you paid the publisher in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions limit these exclusions, so parts may not apply to you.
Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the publisher from claims, damages, losses and reasonable legal costs arising out of your use of the site, your breach of these terms, anything you submitted, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
Links, ads and affiliates
We link out constantly: Extension services, the USDA, NOAA, sometimes retailers. We don’t control those sites or how they treat your data. Ads on the site may be served by third parties, including Google AdSense. Where a link earns a commission, that is disclosed on the page carrying it. What ad partners collect is covered in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We can change these terms. The new version goes up here with a new “last updated” date at the top, and material changes stay flagged on the page for 30 days. Using the site after a change means you accept it.
Ending access
We can block access, remove comments or cancel an email subscription at any time, and we will for a breach of these terms. Ownership, your submitted-content license, warranties, liability, indemnity and governing law survive after access ends.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the publisher is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located there. Email first, though. Send the problem to hello@avagardentips.com and give us 30 days to put it right before anyone files anything.
If part of this doesn’t hold up
A clause a court finds unenforceable gets narrowed to the least that works, or dropped, and the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a term once doesn’t waive it later. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us. You can’t transfer your rights under them; the publisher can, if the site changes hands.

Copyright complaints
Send copyright complaints to the same email or postal address. Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice needs to include all six of these:
- Your physical or electronic signature, as the owner of the right or someone authorized to act for the owner.
- The copyrighted work you say has been infringed, or a representative list if there are several.
- The material on this site you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it. A URL is best.
- Your contact details: an address, a phone number and an email address if you have one.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner.
We review complete notices and act on the ones that check out.
